Welcome.
I'm Nancy, a parent, educator, literacy specialist, and an advocate for struggling readers (especially those who are Dyslexic and English Language Learners).
If you are an educator, administrator, or family member who has a struggling reader(s) and you are someone who wants to be a positive change agent, I invite you to join The Reading Forward Project and support literacy efforts for all learners.
Register to get updates from us about these topics.
As literacy expert and author of LETRS, Dr. Louisa Moats, wrote in her article Teaching Reading IS Rocket Science, our children are counting on us!
Built on a foundation of over 25+ years in teaching and leadership experience, we have seen and heard from so many people about the struggles children are facing. We are growing this project to support all of you who want to be a part of the solution and change that is truly needed. So if you are an educators, school leaders, parent, or someone who is willing to help you are invited to join us at the Reading Forward Project.
We will always use the vetted research to identify the many resources to help you as you begin your journey in understanding the struggles of many children/families, reading science and ways in which you can help.
Engage with our resource lists and become a part of our community.
Together we can make a difference!

What is the story with literacy?
-
Students across the U.S. are not gaining proficiency in the reading and writing skills they need.
-
Programs based on the science of reading* grow literacy skills in all types of learners, including multi-lingual learners.
*The science of reading is a body of research incorporating insights from developmental
psychology, educational psychology, cognitive science, and cognitive neuroscience to understand
how the brain learns to read, write, speak, and listen.
